Cleaning workers employed in several educational institutions in Sidi Slimane staged a protest sit-in this morning in front of the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education and Preschool, calling for the payment of their delayed monthly wages.
The protest, organized at the call of the Moroccan Labour Union, brought together a number of affected workers who raised slogans urging the swift settlement of outstanding payments, stating that repeated delays have impacted their social and living conditions.
In similar statements, participants highlighted the role played by cleaning staff within schools, particularly in maintaining hygiene and ensuring a suitable environment for students and educational staff, stressing the importance of respecting their professional rights, including timely salary payments.
Protesters also called on the relevant authorities at both provincial and national levels to intervene and open dialogue aimed at resolving the issue and preventing further delays, noting that the sit-in followed previous attempts at communication with the employer, according to their accounts.
